Old and New Photo Galleries

As I expand on this new web site design, I'm also going to expand my photo galleries. I only have a couple to pick from right now. In the coming days, I'm going to go through my stored files and repost some of my old photo galleries from Na Nago's former Magazine days... and I'll post new pics from my current projects.

Just thought I would give that heads up. In the meantime, enjoy the galleries that I have so far.

Cheers,

For the Troops

My friend Tiffany has been very busy with her photography. She - in association with ForTheTroopsOnline.com - has recreated a series of famous pin-up photos.

The photos that Tiffany re-created were inspired by Gil Elvgren's pin-up work. I encourage anyone to check out the web site and support the cause. Also, check out Tiffany's work. You will not be dissapointed.

Cheers,

Camera Gear

The very first camera that got me hooked on photography was this bad boy on the right... the FujiFilm S7000. I've always done some form of photography before this camera, but it was only a mild, passing interest. When I bought this camera - this will sounds cheesy, but - it was as though a new door opened for me. I fell in love with photography and started to learn everything that I could about taking pictures.

My style of photography sucked back then, but who can honestly say that they were great photographers right out of the starting gate? Still, I learned, and I quickly upgraded to the Canon Rebel XT.

The XT was and still is an awesome camera. It's now one of my back-up camera bodies, but holding my first SLR was a beautiful moment. I felt that I could photograph the world. By this time, I was starting Na Nago Magazine online. The ideas were coming to me and I had this little bad-boy at my side. It felt good!

By the time I bought the Canon XT, I didn't suck as much at taking pictures. I kind of find it funny now, but back then, I seriously thought I was the second coming of Helmut Newton. Looking back now, I can see that I had a slightly similar style, but even that - I think - is stretching it. (thanks to OMP), pick the setting, and direct the moods. A lot of the photos in Fashion Gallery 1 (Link on the right) were taken with my XT.

I'm jumping a head here, but now I use the Canon 5D and the Canon XTi as my primary and back-up camera bodies. Because Na Nago folded, I started to earn a living as a Wedding photographer. Every now and then do I photograph a model.

Anyways, that's plenty to rant about. Until next time.

First Post

It's been a while since I've done anything with Na Nago. Many years ago, I envisioned this web site to be an Artistic online magazine featuring my work as well as other aspiring art photographers.

Things were great for the first 6 months. The reception was positive. The traffic was small, but loyal - I think - but it was fun.

But running a magazine is no picnic. I thought that by doing this magazine online, I would have time to do my own photography and contribute regularly as well as write article on other photographers.

I was wrong!

I photographed less and less, and I got tired of writing, promoting, and doing all the web site hard coding (I do my own HTML work). It just became too overwhelming, and I pulled the plug on Na Nago Magazine after 13 months.

I don't regret the experience. It taught me a lot about the publishing world, and I made some great friends out of the process. But I also missed photographing art work, and I missed sharing that work even more.
So now I'm taking another stab at Na Nago. This time - as you can plainly see - I'm trying the blog approach. I'll periodically add posts, and I'd love to hear all your comments.
Cheers,
Marc Sadowski
